Jared McCloud has built a career on honesty, heart, and hard-won grit. Known for his natural, earthy vocal tone and deeply introspective songwriting, McCloud draws listeners in with lyrics that feel more like confessions than compositions. His songs are a testament to storytelling—rooted in lived experience and delivered with soul.
Originally cutting his teeth in hard rock and metal bands, Jared eventually traded flash for feeling and set out on a solo path. He self-produced his debut album, hitting the pavement to promote it at coffeehouses, clubs, and wherever he could find a stage. It was in those small venues that he developed a loyal following and sharpened a live performance that would go on to impress crowds in much larger halls.
Blending influences from Tom Waits and Chris Whitley to Springsteen and Motown, McCloud’s sound defies easy categorization but resonates with fans of all stripes. In 2009, his indie label debut Romance of the Atlantic earned widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike. It led to national radio play, a growing press presence, and a string of endorsement deals with brands like Alvarez Guitars, SIT Strings, Trophy Straps, and Porchboard.
In 2011, he followed up with Painful Words of Loving Grace, produced by Jason Rubal (Dresden Dolls, Bitter Ruin). The album offered a raw glimpse into Jared’s personal life and family history, earning 4- and 5-star reviews across music media. McCloud hit the road again, sharing stages and tours with acts such as Zach Myers of Shinedown, Ingram Hill, Ernie Halter, Candlebox, Soul Asylum, Vertical Horizon, Griffin House, Meat Puppets, and Civil Twilight.
Following a difficult divorce, McCloud channeled the emotional fallout into his most personal work to date. With the help of a successful Kickstarter campaign, he recorded To Live and Die in Your Arms with producer Dave Pittenger (Matt Duke). Released via Noble Steed Music, the album resonated deeply with fans, charting at #192 and peaking at #46 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter Top 200.
In 2024, McCloud released his latest album Vacancy—a powerful collection of heartfelt stories and beautifully crafted songs. The record showcases his continued evolution as a songwriter, with breakout tracks like “Mama” and “Good Enough” connecting with audiences on a deep emotional level.
Now, with years of hard-won experience and a catalog full of soul-baring songs, Jared McCloud has joined the Rock Sun Records/Virgin Music Group family. With this new chapter underway, the sky’s the limit for what comes next.
